    OHV Riding

The main OHV trail system has been closed since August of 2018 due to the Ranch Fire. However, on June 4, 2019, 20 miles of trails and the Middle Creek Novice area reopened on the Upper Lake Ranger District. On the Grindstone Ranger District, the Nail Track play area and the Davis Flat campground loop are open.

    Hiking

The varied terrain of the Mendocino National Forest offers endless opportunities for all hikers. We are not able to maintain every trail every year, so hikers need to be alert to such things as downed trees across a trail, unstable soil and rocks, and leaning trees or loose limbs over the trail. Whether day hiking or back packing into the wilderness for a week, you will find many options on the Mendocino National Forest, such as hiking to the top of Black Butte.
